SeaTec to Undertake IHMs
SeaTec, V.Group’s provider of technical services, is encouraging all ship owners to obtain an Inspection of Hazardous Materials (IHM) for their vessels in order to comply with forthcoming European Union (EU) maritime legislation.
IHM is an important legal requirement affecting all existing EU flagged ships as well as vessels flying the flag of a third country and calling at an EU port or anchorage from 31st December 2020. It is also a current requirement for new build vessels or ships which are to be recycled.
Stefano Mutolo, Project Engineer at SeaTec, notes the importance of scheduling an IHM as far in advance of 31st December as possible: “As a leading provider of IHM, SeaTec’s availability is becoming ever more scarce as ship owners and managers book our services. As the December deadline approaches, our capacity will decrease further, which is why we’re encouraging ship owners to plan ahead.”
As the industry expert in IHM: SeaTec can offer ship owners the following:
Global coverage
SeaTec can service vessels at a variety of different locations despite the restrictions imposed by COVID-19. Our online map shows the main ports where we can deliver IHM inspections.
Expert advice
SeaTec can provide guidance on current and future regulations, ensuring compliance at all times.
SeaTec inspections include all classification societies
SeaTec’s inspections include all classification societies, providing peace of mind for owners of all vessels. SeaTec performs IHM inspection using surveyors certified by the main classification societies: ABS, RINA, BV, LR, DNV GL and KR. SeaTec also cooperates with Class NK which applies different requirements and approves solely their own surveyors. In addition, Class NK is the only recognised organisation requiring to conduct the inspection together with the contractor.
